 LANCASHIRE TRAINING WEEKEND

We had our spring weekend hosted at Lancashire Police HQ , our guest coach European Champion and former Olympic competitor   BJA Performance  Director Nigel Donohue taught a superb ne-waza  session , giving everyone a new way at looking at shime-waza.  It was a busy weekend with our Dutch Police friends travelling for what is now becoming our annual team event , last time we met GB were the victors but not this time despite the contests being closely fought.  We managed to fit in a dan grading for those looking for promotion and  saw Jason Moore complete his points for 5th Dan a great achievement , well done Jason. This weekend was the last chance for the Great Britain Police Team to come together before we travel to Germany in May for the European Police Championships,  the squad of, Gary Cole, Frazier Menzies, Lee Holley, Jason Moore, Sam Delahay , GavinMcNeill, Jo Coull, Kate Harris, Lauren Holley and Sian Wilson, have trained hard for this event the pinnacle of police sport despite the demands of operational police work , they will be accompanied by

Andy Moss as Head  of Delegation

and National Coaches Chris Hunt, Darren Dean  and Matt Clempner.

Our National Championships will be in hosted by the
Metropolitan Police in September and promises to be a great event so look
out  for the entry forms !
Our Autumn weekend will be in Cardiff at the Welsh Centre

judo for coaches and players and our guest coach Densign White 7th Dan fresh

PSUK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2014 National Championships
were hosted by Police Scotland at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan
Castle in Fife on the 13th September.
Although the number of entries
was down on previous years, It was good to see some new faces taking part
particulary in the Kyu Grade and Ladies sections. Thank you Police Scotland and
all the officials who made running the event possible and thank-you to those who travelled from all over
the UK to support the event.
However , wemust recruit new blood and all Police judoka are asked to actively seek
existing players within their force as well as bring new people into Police
judo.
The standard was good with some
very exciting contests in particular whenever Gary Cole, Dyfed Powys stepped onto the mat and in particular his open category fight against
James Stringer which was an outstanding display of Judo by both James and Gary.
Gary Liddle had an impressive 8 wins from 10 contests.Congratulations to James Stringer on winning
the Player of the Day Award. Full results can be found on the results page.
After an impressive 52 years in
Police Judo, Bill Berry 7th Dan and PSUK Senior referee, was on home soil to referee
his final contests at the event.. Bill has been a great supporter of Police
Judo throughout the years and has organised many championships, his retirement
from Police Judo was an end of an era. Bill was thanked for all his hard work
and dedication to Police Judo and presented with an engraved decanter which I
am sure he will put to good use! Graham
Bayley has kindly agreed to step up to be the PSUK Senior Referee
The 2015 Championships will be
hosted by the Metropolitan Police, date to follow.
